VOLUNTEER - SELF-LESS SERVICE - WORK EXCHANGE
Dear Friends,
Did you know that this Saturday, Sept. 23rd we’re putting together an amazing all-day Fall Equinox Celebration in Highland Park?
The Luminescence Sound Bath Community has partnered with The York Manor to transform the Manor into an urban health-wellness-yoga-and-sound space for the day. It’s such an amazing opportunity to co-create this day for community, well-being, and self-care.
With that said, putting together a day like this requires the support of some reliable, helping hands.
Would you - or someone you know - be interested in helping out in some way?

Below are the specific positions we’re needing to fill.

Below are the specific positions we’re needing to fill.
One (1) Mahal Seva (for the whole day)
Description:
Why Be a Maha Sevadar?
This is an excellent all-hands-on-deck opportunity to learn, network, build relationships, and be part of the development of a brand that has been building its reputation in the community.
You will enjoy this position if you are proactive, like to think on your feet, and if you like to see a big vision being implemented into reality. And if you like being around people and being a problem-solver. Even better is if you can remain calm under challenging situations and still remain clear-headed, focused, able to make decisions under any situation, and maintain a good sense of humor. Also, you’ll be good for this position if you are willing to receive guidance and feedback. If you are creative and enterprising, this could be a valuable experience for you as well.
Perks:
On the day of the event - You will be given a $20 cash stipend to take care of your lunch and dinner.
As a huge thank you for your support for this day, you will receive 2 individual coaching sessions ($330 value) to be scheduled within three months’ time.

Description:
- Essentially this position will be the Executive Producer’s (Liza / Sat-Akal’s ) right hand. We will work strongly together. Your day will start at 9am or 9:30am with me over breakfast, then we’re on. You will be “On” for the whole day until 11pm (Door sales start at 12noon. The first event starts at 1pm and ends at 10pm). You can take breaks as needed at opportune times when you can.
- Whatever I will need support with, you will be the go-to person I will lean into for assistance and be a liaison for the different people/activities/situations where I am not available.
- You will be given the authority to help guide and direct people - patrons, the venue staff, volunteers, and fill any gaps or come up with solutions to help with the day’s flow, including managing the volunteers.
- And if there are any “issues” that come up and I’m not available, you will be the person to get that issue solved. (I’m really not worried about any big issues… afterall, this IS yoga) You may also be asked to be the MC for one of the events for the day.
- Consider this a bootcamp training ground for event production and getting yourself out there in your own creative and entrepreneurial efforts.
- The day is full but I promise that you will get a lot of experience from it and there will be a lot of spaciousness and fun as well. It will be everything but boring.
- We will have 1-2 phone calls before the event.
- We will also have 1 debrief meeting after the event (sometime within the first 3 days).

A.) 4 Karma Yogis for the Afternoon Sessions, starting at 11:30AM - 5:30PM
(If you want to be available to help out the whole day, too, let me know and we can work something out. This would be from 11:30am - 11pm)
Description:
You must be available for the entire time slot, from 11:30am - 5:30pm. No exceptions.
You will be required to be primarily at the front desk / ticketing table to register people, collect payments, and to do so with the mindset of a sevadar, “selfless service.” You will be successful in this position if you bring a friendly and positive attitude, like keeping things organized, like problem-solving, and are proactive. You must be good with a calculator, efficient with running square payments, efficient with or are willing to learn how to take photos/video and be willing to say Yes to filling-in any other gaps where your help will be best needed. This may include being a sevadar to presenters, teachers, and performers by asking them if they need any help and being an available helping hand.
Breaks will be scheduled in a way that makes sense and it’s a very laid back position, however when you need to be on to receive payments and register people, you need to be “on.”

If you are looking to be in community and also offer a helping hand, this would be an ideal position to be in as you'd get some behind the scenes learning, get to build relationships with those involved in co-creating this day, all while also getting to enjoy a portion of the day’s offerings. The most important aspect of this position is embracing an attitude of “seva” - which means “selfless service.” Your support is priceless beyond renumeration but you help because you can, because you are available to fill a need, and because you know doing good works to help others is a good thing to do.

Breaks will be scheduled in a way that makes sense and it’s a very laid back position, however when you need to be on to receive payments and register people, you need to be “on.”
